Dear Remy,

The crows & the starlings have been

at war since 1890, when Eugene

Schieffelin released 60 starlings in Central

Park. He wished to transplant all the birds

mentioned in the works of Shakespeare to

the “New World.” Other attempts (bullfinches,

skylarks) failed. But the starlings flourished.
